Learn more about the crucial role of Communications in Defence with Sophie Bellamy, Communications Manager at Strategic Command.

Interviewer: Could you introduce yourself and your role at Strategic Command?

Sophie: My name is Sophie, and I'm the Social Media Manager for Strategic Command.

My role involves collaborating with various teams, both within the UK and overseas, including organisations within Strategic Command and bases abroad.

Interviewer: Can you share what your role entails?

Sophie: We work closely with teams within the UK, overseas bases, and international partners and allies, spanning from Northwood Headquarters to locations abroad.

Interviewer: What do you find most rewarding about your job?

Sophie: There are two aspects that I find particularly rewarding.

Firstly, analysing people's emotions and sentiments through analytics. It's satisfying to see that our work is resonating with the intended audience.

Secondly, while it may sound mundane, the actual metrics and analytics provide validation that we're effectively reaching our targets and making an impact.

Interviewer: As a communicator, what challenges do you face?

Sophie: Communication is crucial in our line of work. We must present our activities in a clear and understandable manner for both internal and external audiences. This involves translating complex information into tangible formats that everyone can comprehend.

Additionally, we need to highlight not only our own work but also the achievements of our peers within Strategic Command.
